1st impressions are its very alpha, needs a lot of work, and there is actually less content than in the original DayZ, BUT it still has a lot of potential, latency and performance seems a lot better, the gun combat should be a lot better especially CQB which was too much of a lottery in the first game.

Its £20 for the alpha which includes the full game when it releases. Rocket, the creator, says the game won't hit beta stage for at least another year, with full release considerably later than that.

Be warned, it is very alpha, I will not be recommending anyone to buy it atm, unless they are fully aware of what to expect in alphas and the process the game has to go through till it hits beta.

The game itself feels less "wonky" and more stable, but there is a noticable lack of zombies and loot.

Also it is often unclear how to heal yourself and fainting and getting blurry vision is so annoying that you often just want to get killed by a zombie and respawn.

Still, it is a work in progress, but then again, so were the mod.

It is very alpha and the low loot spawn is a bit frustrating but for all that we didn't notice that we had played til 1:30 i the morning so can't be all bad. Definitely not for someone who isn't already a Dayz fan and has some idea of how to play at this stage though, it would put you off forever.

I played in the closed alpha and it's incredible what they've managed to do during that short time. Once they pick up again after the holidays I'm sure the game will develop in a rapid pace, where it'll definitely be worth the price tag even for people who aren't that much into DayZ already.

I'll definitely be playing this throughout the holidays, that much is for sure.

Well, after playing less than an hour I've found lots of clothes and things to kill things with such as crowbars, fire extinguisher etc, a crash helmet, the SE quarter of the map, Newton's Principia Mathmatica (don't ask because I don't know), a few cans of coke and a couple of rotten oranges.

I've also killed a player but it seems that the biggest issue is the same as the mod version and that is you need to eat and drink way too often. However, you can drink from steams and ponds directly without a bottle which is good.

It seems as if you have to eat and drink more if you sprint everywhere, have to conserve energy also if you overeat you actually seem to take a lot longer before you get hungry again. Not many guns in but they are too easy to get and once you have them you're kind of stumped for stuff to do.

I know it's a recipe for disaster but, I was playing with Moul this evening we were both sick from eating rotten fruit. As he was also short of blood he went to take blood from me and as it turned out I also needed blood and he took what I had and rendered me unconscious. Probably a funnier moment than me being kidnapped. :D
